Trust me.įor 1, I'd honestly recommend playing just the original version. If anyone tells you to play this version, don't listen to them. And to top it off, it just looks really ugly. Grinding now takes longer, you NEVER have enough money to revive and stuff when you die, and you will die a lot because since you barely fight anybody, you're incredibly underleveled for the later parts of the game. It nerfs the encounter rate, yes, but that encounter rate was so high in the original because without it, the balancing of the game is COMPLETELY screwed up. The main thing I'll tell you is, DON'T GET LURED INTO PLAYING THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY VERSION. Areas such as Duncan’s Factory were also adjusted to be less confusing, while areas such as the Cemetery and Snowman have been expanded a bit.I'm not too knowledgeable on the different versions of 2 or 3 (though just get the regular fan translation for 3, it's my favorite game of all time), but I do know more about different versions of 1. There is more scenery and other specific areas to give the game a much more colorful look that is charming and respectful in its own definitive way. The overworld from MOTHER has been tweaked and rearranged to be less repetitive and bleak, while also to prevent the player from getting lost along the way. Some of them were purposely made to be far more goofy or creepy looking, and things such as the title screen were adjusted to be more pretty and pleasing to the eye.
